We get raw honey from Jim in Cumbria, UK

Jim Lowther

Jim’s the current custodian of the family’s Estate at Lowther Castle in the Lowther valley and one of our environmentally friendly and ethical small scale beekeepers. We have a raw honey from bees he keeps in a top field, close to hawthorn, hedgerows and lots of very mature trees.

Jim Lowther has been beekeeping for over 10 years and introduced bees to the Estate to help him manage it more sustainably: as he says if the bees are doing well then the Estate must be healthy too. They keep over 200 hives in apiaries across the Lowther Estate and use only sustainable beekeeping methods to produce their honey from the beautiful Lake District World Heritage Site. Jim makes all his own hive equipment from English western red cedar wood.
