This honey is very light, clear and smooth. Its flavour starts off floral and mild and then becomes smokey with a flavour that stays long in your mouth. It's a totally unique honey!

PROVENANCE

Howard moved from Surrey to Forest of Dean to find his bees more space, it's meant a new home and new job and he's loving it!  In their first year in their new home the bees did little until the blackberry blossom was out, then it poured into 2 of the 6 colonies. The others were uncharacteristically quiet in comparison so he's watching them with interest as they settle in.

Howard has chosen a great spot though, with the original Blasidon Plum orchard just over the hedge - you can see it in the photo, but sadly taken in winter rather than when the trees are in full bloom.

The Blasidon Plum is a traditional English variety that's great for jam!  The first tree was apparently discovered in a hedge in Blasidon village by a man called John Dowding in 1892.  Around 100 years ago there used to be about 500 acres of Blaisdon plum orchards in the area, but most are now lost as we started to import cheaper varieties: plant a Blaisdon Plum tree if you can!

SUSTAINABILITY

We work with small scale British beekeepers who we visit to talk bees with and see the bees and landscapes that make each honey. All of our beekeepers are good custodians of their bees and the woodlands, meadows, gardens and fields they keep them in. They talk to local farmers, landowners, fellow allotment owners and councils to encourage planting for pollinators, sustainable woodland management and protecting the natural landscape for their bees.  Our aim is to bring you special limited edition honeys from more and more British beekeepers: as long as they're good custodians of their bees of course!

Our jars and labels are all British sourced to keep our transport miles and carbon footprint low. We absorb the extra cost
