We get raw honey from Roger, Bignor Bees, Sussex, UK
Bignor Bees
Roger aka ‘Bignor Bees’ is one of our environmentally friendly and ethical small scale beekeepers. We have two of Roger’s raw honeys, one from the bees he keeps in his garden and another from bees he keeps in oak woodland.
Bignor is in the South Downs National Park, a hidden away place with narrow lanes and thatched cottages. Roger’s been a beekeeper for 10 years, if a hive needs attention he stands a brick up on its roof to remind him.
He keeps about 15 hives in his two apiaries, including 8 in his garden. It’s a beautiful spot, with the bees sharing the garden with the ducks he calls ‘the angels’ as they’re so white. I could even hear the low call of a stag out on the Downs when I visited.
