Howard's bees - 1 of 382 jars Garden, Blaisdon
- Milder flavour | Runny
- Bees kept in Garden | Blaisdon, Gloucestershire
This honey has a milder, but long lasting flavour note to it. It's still delicate with fresh floral notes that develop into something that reminds me of fields of hay and stays in your mouth long after the spoonful is gone. A really delicious honey.
If you like your honey to:
- drizzle on your yoghurt to give it a sweet lift and more flavour
- sweeten tea or coffee without changing its flavour too much, or to make your own sweet hot drink
this would be a good honey for you!
This honey comes from bees that Howard keeps in his garden in Blaisdon, a rural spot in the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire. The original Blaisdon Plum orchard is just over the hedge from their hives.
The Blaisdon Plum is a traditional English variety first discovered growing in one of the village's hedges in 1892 — at its peak there were around 500 acres of Blaisdon plum orchards in this part of Gloucestershire. Most are gone now, lost as cheaper imported varieties took over.
