Dave Gillan, Whitburn, West Lothian
Dave has been keeping bees for 5 years, about the same length of time as me, but he’s putting me to shame with 15 hives compared to my one! He's also taking new beekeepers under his wing and helping them as they start their beekeeping career I really enjoyed visiting him and hearing him talk with so much enthusiasm about all things beekeeping. I could have stayed for hours... next time I will! Dave is one of those people who don't ever seem to be at a loose end: over winter all a beekeeper can do is hope that their bees survive until spring, so in winter Dave paints incredibly detailed War Hammer models while he waits. His honey is fresh and fruity, not so much dried fruit as fig or apricot. It’s a very scented honey too.
