Little Legs's hive looks busier when you compare to videos from previous weeks, but it's slow progress. I'm just back from the London Beekeepers' Association meeting, sacrificing some of Little Legs' bees to test them for nosema virus which gives them bad runs and can kill off a weak hive. I'm so relieved they're clear - no tell tell grains of rice showing up under the microscope! So advice from my mate Jon is to stop worrying, while the colony isn't big enough to keep brood warm they'll keep the Queen on low egg laying rates so it my one frame of brood isn't that much of surprise. The worker bees will get the Queen's egg laying rate to increase it as more bees hatch and help to keep the hive warm.
