A nutty honey from Pulborough, Sussex

A nutty honey from Pulborough, Sussex

from 5.75

This honey comes from bees that Kaz Powell looks after. Kaz has worked for commercial beekeepers in NZ, Yorkshire & Kent, and found herself scaling cliffs in the Caribbean to try to safely re-house so called 'Africanised 'Killer Bees' that were too close to a parrot protection programme  She started keeping her own bees 4 years ago and now has hives across Sussex.

This honey comes from Pulborough and bees she keeps in woodlands. The apiary is in a beautiful spot, a quiet place that the owner is gradually restoring back to its ancient woodland roots. This honey was harvested in May, catching the spring flowering blossoms in the woodland and nearby fruit farm. It smells and tastes like rice pudding and very creamy.  It’s the nuttiness of rice that explains why we’ve described this as a nutty honey. See what you think!
