Floral honey from Ardington, Berkshire

from 5.75

This is a honey with floral flavour notes from Matt Aldridge and the teaching apiary for the Vale and Downland Beekeeping Association in Ardington, Berkshire. It’s in the middle of a large arable farm which grows oilseed rape, field beans and other cereal crops. Last year the cool spring meant the bees weren’t able to make the usual surplus of honey from the oilseed rape. Luckily the warmer humid conditions in late May were ideal for field beans, so the bee colonies built up well and were able to take full advantage and then continued with the brambles that fill the hedgerows.  It’s resulted in a sweet floral honey which is lovely spread thick on toast.

Our jars of raw honey make perfect treats for the family, or a lovely ‘thank you’ present for someone; and especially if they’re health conscious or hayfever sufferers as a spoonful of honey a day has been shown to make significant improvements to our levels of good gut bacteria!
